1. a canoe hollowed from the trunk of a tree; dugout.
2. any relatively heavy canoe or small boat that somewhat resembles this, made in various parts of the world.
3. a two-masted, flat-bottomed sailing barge, used especially in the Caribbean and in the Atlantic coastal waters southward to Brazil.
